The short version

Compare Cat Foods is a hobby project that helps you compare cat foods. I do my best to keep the data accurate, but mistakes are possible — please double-check anything you’re about to buy against the actual product label. None of this is veterinary advice. If you click through to a retailer, their terms apply over there. The longer version below covers the usual legal ground.

Who I am, and what this site is

This site is operated by Compare Cat Foods LLC, based out of Iowa, USA. The site is a sortable, filterable comparison tool for cat food nutrition and cost. It is not a store — you cannot buy anything here. It is also not a registry, certification, or substitute for reading the actual product label.

The data might be wrong — double-check before buying

Cat food nutrition data on this site is collected manually from manufacturer websites, PDFs, and product labels, and run through consistency checks. I do my best, but mistakes are possible. Pet food companies also change formulas, update labels, and sometimes publish inconsistent values themselves — any of that can affect what shows up here.

Before you commit to buying a particular product based on data from this site, please re-check the values on the manufacturer’s product page or on the package itself. The Methodology page explains my sourcing rules and judgement calls in detail.

This is not veterinary advice

This site is for informational comparison only. It is not veterinary advice and should not be used as a substitute for talking to a vet. If your cat has a medical condition — kidney disease, urinary issues, diabetes, anything — please talk to a vet before changing their diet, even if a change seems like an obvious improvement based on the data here.

You’re buying from retailers, not from me

Any “buy” button on this site is an outbound link to a third-party retailer (Chewy, Amazon, Petco, etc.). Once you click through:

  • The transaction is between you and that retailer.
  • That retailer’s terms of service, privacy policy, refund policy, and shipping policies apply.
  • I have no role in the purchase. I can’t process returns, look up your order, or resolve a dispute on your behalf.

If there’s a problem with a purchase, contact the retailer.

Site content vs. product trademarks

The original content on this site — the writing, layout, and comparison tool itself — is owned by Compare Cat Foods LLC and protected by copyright. You can read, share, and link to pages freely. Please don’t copy the data or content wholesale onto another site or into a commercial product without my permission. If you want to ask, email me.

Product names, brand names, logos, and packaging imagery belong to their respective manufacturers and retailers. They appear here for the purpose of identifying the products being compared — not as an endorsement of this site by those companies, or vice versa. If you’re a brand and have a concern, please email me at the address below.

Things not to do

Please don’t:

  • Try to break the site (denial-of-service attempts, exploit hunting, and the like).
  • Scrape the catalog en masse without asking. If you’re a researcher or have a use case, email me — I’d rather hear from you than have you wrestle with my server.
  • Impersonate me or the site, or use the LLC name in a way that suggests endorsement of someone else’s product or service.
  • Use this site to do anything illegal.

Affiliate links and external sites

This site uses affiliate links to retailers. The full affiliate disclosure is on the About page, and how affiliate-link tracking works is described in the Privacy Policy. Once you’ve clicked an outbound link, you’ve left this site and the destination’s policies govern. I’m not responsible for the content of external sites and don’t endorse them beyond pointing you to them as places to buy a product.

No warranties

This is where the legalese has to live for the site to function. Compare Cat Foods is provided “as is” and “as available.” I make no warranty — express, implied, or statutory — that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Compare Cat Foods LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site — even if it’s been pointed out that such damages were possible. If a court somewhere decides liability applies anyway, total liability is capped at $100.

This isn’t about ducking responsibility for real mistakes — if I publish something materially wrong and you tell me, I’ll fix it. It’s about not being on the hook for outcomes I can’t predict or control.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms occasionally. When I do, I’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is significant, I’ll do my best to flag it. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of these terms or your use of the site will be resolved in state or federal courts located in Iowa.
